AUSTIN, TX – On Saturday the Texas State Republican Executive Committee unanimously adopted a resolution to join the Senate Democratic Caucus in demanding that Democrat Senator Carlos Uresti step down immediately from his position in the Texas Senate.

A jury of his peers convicted Senator Uresti on all 11 felony counts in violation of our federal laws, including wire fraud, securities fraud, associated conspiracy counts, money laundering counts, and failure to register as a securities broker with the Securities and Exchange Commission. These transgressions of Senator Uresti are outside the confines of integrity, respect, and acceptable ethical, legal and moral expectations of a State Senator.

RPT Chairman James Dickey, who had previously called for Senator Uresti’s resignation, released the following statement: “It has been months since Senator Uresti was found guilty by a jury of his peers, and Senator Uresti has refused to resign.  Republicans and Democrats both agree that he is unfit to continue serving in the Texas Senate. Democrat Senator Uresti must resign.”

You can read the full resolution below.
