WHEREAS, James A. Cribbs was born in Arlington, Texas on October 26, 1932; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from the Southern Methodist University School of Law and then served his country in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps; and

WHEREAS, after his service he returned to Texas in 1957 with his wife and later founded the law firm of Cribbs & McFarland; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Cribbs was the founder of the Arlington Republican Club as well as a Chairman of the Texas Ethics Commission; and

WHEREAS, for decades he was a respected advisor to Arlington’s business community and supporter of numerous local and state elected officials; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Cribbs represented his district on the State Republican Executive Committee; and

WHEREAS, he was a major force in building the Republican Party in Tarrant County and in convincing conservative elected officials to join the Party, he helped turn the county Republican; and

WHEREAS, after a life of faithful service to his community and to the conservative movement, James A. Cribbs passed away on March 10, 2019; now

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the State Republican Executive Committee honors the life and accomplishments of James A. Cribbs; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas expresses our utmost gratitude for the sustained and loyal service of James A. Cribbs and our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
