Jonathan is a resident of Garland, Texas and was born, raised, and has lived his entire life in the Dallas area. He was homeschooled through high school, and worked at a local Wal-Mart to put himself through college at the University of Texas at Dallas. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from UTD’s honors program with a B.A. in government. During his junior year of college, Jonathan was an intern for the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. as a Fellow in the University of Texas Archer Fellowship program.

After graduating from college, Jonathan attended the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University on an academic scholarship. While in law school he participated in criminal defense for indigent individuals in Dallas County, clerked for a family law judge, attended Oxford University in Oxford England, and was a member of multiple mock trial teams.

After passing the bar exam in 2009, Jonathan practiced law for four and a half years. His law practice included representing individuals, corporations, non-profits, and educational and religious institutions as both plaintiffs and defendants in civil matters. He handled many different types of cases including oil and gas contract negotiation and litigation, family, personal injury, and 2nd Amendment related cases.

In 2014 Jonathan left his law firm to go full time running a small business that he and his brother had started a few years prior. Jonathan is currently the co-owner of a growing e-commerce company located in Dallas, Texas that focuses on the acquisition and resale of used media products.

Politically, Jonathan served as the President of the Dallas County Young Republicans from 2012-2014. He served on the State Republican Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Texas from 2013–2015. He has also served as Chair of the Resolutions Committee for the Dallas County Republican Party. He has volunteered for numerous federal, state and local candidates, including leading a group of young professionals to perform get out the vote efforts in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in the days leading up to the 2012 presidential election.

Jonathan won the Republican nomination for State Representative in Texas House District 113 in the March 2018 Republican primary election. District 113 is comprised of parts or all of the cities of Rowlett, Garland, Mesquite, Sunnyvale, Balch Springs and Seagoville. Jonathan received 54% of the vote in the primary as one of just a handful of candidates in the state to face multiple challengers and avoid a runoff.

Jonathan is an Eagle Scout and is an active member of the The Village Church. He is active in the community as a volunteer in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and he currently serves on Big Brothers Big Sister’s Dallas Region Junior Board of Directors. He also serves on a regional Selective Service System Board for the Dallas County area, and as Treasurer for the Noon Exchange Club of Garland. In his spare time, he enjoys watching Dallas Mavericks basketball, reading, politics, playing tennis and running.
