MEET LARRY

As a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, Larry Gonzales is committed to ensuring the people of Texas have every opportunity for success. His family’s journey from immigrants to successful business owners, ministers, and public servants has taught him the value of opportunity and hard work.

Prior to his election in 2010, Larry worked for the Texas House, Texas Senate, Lt. Governor of Texas, Texas Attorney General, and the Texas State University System. He is a graphic designer and business owner in Round Rock, Texas, where he and his wife of 20 years, Marie, are raising their two children. Marie serves as Associate Principal at McNeil High School, having spent her career in special education. Their two children, ages 13 and 15, are enrolled in public schools. His parents have served as pastors for thirty years and as police chaplains for ten years.

Larry’s efforts in the legislature focus on the state budget, special education, and technology issues. Representative Gonzales serves as Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Articles 6, 7 and 8, appropriating funds for 42 state agencies. He also served as a Budget Conferee, one of just 5 Texas House Members working to write the final version of the 2016-2017, $209.4 billion state budget. Additionally, Chairman Gonzales is an advocate of those with special needs, ushering into law significant autism legislation and working to utilize technology to help realize better government efficiency.
