AUSTIN, TX – The Republican Party of Texas’ request for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the Texas Secretary of State from certifying candidates for the Special Election Runoff in Senate District (SD) 19 was denied in a hearing today. Representing the Republican Party of Texas at today’s hearing was attorney Joe Nixon who stated:

“We are glad that this issue can have a full hearing soon. Today Pete Gallego’s attorney told a court that Gallego is living in and has lived in Alpine. But over the past few years Gallego has signed mortgage documents representing to banks that he lives in and intends to continue to live in a home in Travis county,” said RPT lawyer Joe Nixon.

Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey stated:

“Pete Gallego can’t have it both ways. He has either made a false statement to the court or the banks. The voters of SD 19 deserve better than another Carlos Uresti, and Gallego should come clean with the voters so they don’t end up with another shady politician representing them,” said RPT Chairman James Dickey.
