AUSTIN – Today, the Republican Party of Texas announced the release of its latest web video about Kristi Thibaut, the former ACORN lobbyist and current State Representative for House District 133. The video is featured at the website www.KristiWorksforACORN.com and highlights recent public statements made by Thibaut regarding her work as a lobbyist for ACORN at the Texas Legislature.

RPT Chairman Munisteri said, “Thibaut and her campaign advisors are working hard to re-spin her work with ACORN as some kind of community service project, when in fact, records show that she actively worked against a number of common sense solutions at the behest of some extremely narrow liberal interests.”

In the video Thibaut states that she’s “proud of the work she did for ACORN in Texas” – work that includes opposition to the federal E-Verify system in Texas and support of taxpayer-funded day labor sites for undocumented workers.

“Representative Thibaut is currently under investigation by the Texas Ethics Commission for failure to properly disclose the nature of her relationship with ACORN,” said Chris Elam, Communications Director for the RPT. “We expect to know more in the weeks ahead about the full scope of Thibaut’s work for ACORN and what implications that may have for the people of Houston. The fact that she made money as an ACORN lobbyist and then tried to purposefully hide that fact from the voters should rightfully disqualify her from elected office.”

Last month, the Republican Party of Texas launched the website, www.KristiWorksforACORN.com, which details Rep. Thibaut’s former career as an ACORN lobbyist, as well as her campaign contributions from numerous ultra-liberal special interests. The video is the fourth in an ongoing series.
