Last Day to Register to Vote: Tuesday October 10, 2017

First Day of Early Voting: Monday October 23, 2017

Last Day to Apply for a Ballot by Mail (request must be received, not merely postmarked ): Friday October 27, 2017

Last Day of Early Voting: Friday November 3rd, 2017

Deadline for Ballot by Mail to be Received: Tuesday November 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. (unless overseas deadline applies)

Primary Election

First day to apply for a ballot by mail using Application for a Ballot by Mail (ABBM) or Federal Postcard Application (FPCA): Monday, January 1, 2018*

*First day to file does not move because of New Year’s Day holiday. An “Annual ABBM” or FPCA for a January or February 2018 election may be filed earlier, but not earlier than the 60th day before the date of the January or February election.

Last Day to Register to Vote: Monday, February 5, 2018

First Day of Early Voting: Tuesday, February 20, 2018

Last Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail (Received, not Postmarked): Friday, February 23, 2018

Last Day of Early Voting: Friday, March 2, 2018

Deadline for Ballot by Mail to be Received: Tuesday, March 6, 2018 (election day) at 7:00 p.m. (unless overseas deadline applies)

Primary Filing Dates

Precinct Chair Filing: September 12th, 2017 to December 11th, 2017 @ 6:00 p.m.

Candidate Filing: November 11th, 2017 to December 11th, 2017 @ 6:00 p.m.

Offices contained within a single county file with the local party. Offices that cross county lines file with the state party.

Filing deadline for all Primary ballot candidates: Monday December 11th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.

Voting by Mail

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, you must:

  • Be 65 years or older. You may apply for a ballot for an individual election or for an annual application which will apply for the remainder of the voting year
  • Be disabled. You may apply for a ballot for an individual election or for an annual application which will apply for the remainder of the voting year
  • Be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance
  • Or be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.
