Fellow Texas Republicans,

Four weeks from today, Texas Republicans will begin gathering in San Antonio for what is known as the largest political convention in the free world. Three of our state convention committees will begin the deliberations for the formation of our Party’s Platform, Rules, and Legislative Priorities. All delegates and alternates will have the opportunity to provide input to these committees — and for the first time ever, the committee meetings will be publicly livestreamed from the RPT so that Republicans all over the state can observe and engage in the process.

I hope that you are making plans to join me in San Antonio to select our Party’s platform, rules, priorities, and leadership for the next two years. If you have not already pre-registered, please do so now to save yourself time once you arrive!

People & Places

I’ve had the privilege once again of visiting with many Republicans in various parts of Texas this past week, including the Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio areas. Thank you to all of you who have taken time to attend events in your areas and to provide input on what you want to see in the Party. It’s gratifying to hear from so many of you your appreciation for the Party’s work on engagement, fundraising, candidate support, and promoting conservative policies at every level of government.

The week’s travels provided a welcome opportunity to see many SREC members, including Chris McDonald and Tammie Nielsen (SD-6), Mark Ramsey (SD-7), Mark Dorazio and Linda Kinney (SD-25), Fred Rangel and Marian Stanko (SD-26); Atascosa County Chairman Marian Knowlton and Montgomery County Chairman Wally Wilkerson; plus HD-15 nominee Steve Toth, State Board of Education member Tincy Miller, and Senator Don Huffines.

RPT’s Operations Director Rachel Malone taught state convention trainings last week for the Grand Prairie Republican Club and the delegates of SD-2 at an event organized by SREC members Jason Ross and Vicki Slaton and the SD2 county chairs. Many thanks to all the Republican leadership who are providing convention training events for their delegates!

Report from the Field

We know that it’s going to take all of us working together to keep Texas the strong Republican state we know and love — and to be sure that we win with the largest possible margins this November. That’s why I’m so grateful to hear of people like Harris County Precinct Chair Kelly Horsley who is informing her neighbors about the current Runoff Election and the General Election in November . . . or the Dallas YR’s who jumped in to help with the May 12 Day of Action in DFW — or grassroots workers like Chris Arredondo or Barbara or Jim who helped Regional Field Director Joel James blockwalk last week. Shoutout to Joel for organizing the DFW Day of Action in which around a thousand doors were knocked.

It’s also a pleasure to hear of RPT interns such as Ashish Dave taking ownership. Ashish planned and executed his own blockwalk in Pearland, TX last week. Pearland is a critical area where we know that Democrats are trying to get their foot in the door with local elections. We need young leaders like Ashish stepping up to keep our Republican wins strong in areas like Pearland.

Please be sure you have pre-registered for convention! You’ll save time when you arrive in San Antonio, and you’ll also be sure that we have your correct email address so you receive important convention information. Watch for your first Being an Effective Delegate email this week, including important information on providing input to committees.

During the registration process you can purchase tickets to events such as NIOSITA, the Gala, and the Congressional Luncheon. We are approaching our limit for some events, so don’t delay in purchasing your tickets!

On Thursday morning, June 14, registration begins at 7am, the first General Meeting begins at 9am, and the business part of the convention will start around 10am.  If you’ve already registered for convention, log back in to add tickets using the link in your confirmation email.
