The Republican Party of Texas wants you to run for office!
Filing Information
The filing period for candidates requesting a place on the 2018 Republican primary ballot closes Monday, December 11 at 6 p.m. All applications must be received (not just postmarked) by the filing authority no later than 6 p.m. Monday December 11th.
If your district is entirely within one county, you must file with the county party. If your district crosses a county line, you must file with the Republican Party of Texas.
The Republican Party of Texas will be open Friday December 8th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday December 11th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Paid parking is available on the street at meters.
Candidates who wish to file in person can drop off applications at the Republican Party of Texas’ office, located at:

Applications received after December 11, at 6:00 PM, will be rejected. Date of receipt is not determined by postmark, but by actual receipt of items by the filing authority.

- For county chair candidates, some may need to file with Texas Ethics Commission (TEC), some with the county elections officer, some may not need to file at all.

- County Chair Candidates in counties with a population over 300,000 according to the most recent U.S. Census Bureau must file with Petition signatures of at least 10% of the current/incumbent County Executive Committee (CEC) – RPT Rule 8A
- Rule No. 8A – Petition Required for County Chairs in Certain Counties
Persons filing for the office of County Chair in a county with a population of 300,000 or greater shall include a nominating petition containing the signatures of at least 10 percent of the incumbent precinct chairs serving on the County Executive Committee using a form of promulgated by the Republican Party of Texas. The nominating petition shall contain the candidate’s sworn oath that each of the signatures thereon is of a current Precinct Chair and was signed in the presence of the candidate.
