RPT Applauds Rep. Leach for Defending Unborn Children

AUSTIN, TX – Last night during the Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee Hearing on Representative Giovanni Capriglione’s HB 2350, a bill that – if Roe v. Wade were overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court – would make it at minimum a civil offense in Texas to perform an abortion. Representative Jeff Leach took the opportunity to challenge the $150+ million annual fiscal note the Legislative Budget Board attached to the bill – a note stating that would be the cost to the public if babies are born. Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey commented:

“Thank you to Committee Chairman Jeff Leach for his effort to defend HB 2350 and push back against the outrageous claim that aborting babies saves money. Chairman Leach rightly brought this stunning claim to the light of day. We simply cannot put a price on the lives of unborn children.”

Chairman  Dickey continued:

“We are grateful for Representatives Capriglione, Leach and the many others who have filed legislation this session to save the lives of the unborn. This is a Legislative Priority for the Republican Party of Texas and one that is important to Texans all across this state. We are thankful that Republican leaders in the Texas Legislature are again leading the way on this important issue – and are bringing attention to previously overlooked legislative process steps so that the public understands the implications.”
