2012 Election Dates To Remember

UPDATE (Feb. 15, 2012) - The United States District Court three-judge panel in San Antonio has indicated that the 2012 Texas Primary Election will most likely occur on May 29. This date has not been finalized, but the Republican Party of Texas has been instructed to work in conjunction with the Texas Democratic Party and Secretary of State to arrive with proposed timelines and schedules for elections administration of the Primary - based on that date. We will keep you informed by email and news updates on this website of any developments as they occur.

  • November 28 - December 19, 2012 at 6:00pm
    • FIRST Court-Ordered Dates for Candidate Filing for Primary Elections
       
  • TBA Dates for Re-opened Filing Period
    • The Court will order a NEW filing period for the 2012 Primary Elections in order to accommodate changes to the legislative maps which are currently under litigation. This re-opened filing period will be for ALL RACES on the Texas Primary ballot (U.S. President to Precinct Chairman). Candidates already filed will have the chance to amend or withdraw their previous filing for a place on the ballot. New candidates will have a chance to file for a place on the ballot as well.
       
  • April 14 or April 21, 2012 - changed from March 24, 2012 by December 16 court order
    • Senate, District, and County Conventions - Per the 12/16/11 federal court order, Chairman Munisteri will soon announce the date to our county chairs and district leaders.
       
  • June 7-9, 2012

Urgent Redistricting Update X: Primary Moved Again

This afternoon, the San Antonio three-judge panel indicated that the April unified primary election will be postponed and that it was probable (but not a certainty) that the new primary date will be May 29th.

Wednesday action in front of the San Antonio three-judge panel overseeing redistricting, included a quick trial on the State Senate lawsuit filed by Democratic Senator Wendy Davis. The other news of the day was a new date for next week's important status hearing - now on Tuesday, Feb. 14th.
